Our "A Night at the Opera" Gala Concert

took place on Thursday 30th May,2013 at the WIT Concert Hall, Waterford.
We were delighted that the concert was fully booked out and it was a huge success.

The Waterford Male Voice Choir (WMVC)  now one of the most prestigious male voice choirs in the South East has grown from a group of friends who initially met to share their love of music.

WMVC  have been singing in unison with their musical director Niall Crowley for over 12 years. Last May we took a departure from our usual end of season concert and organised a special  Gala concert and called it  "A Night of Opera".

This year's concert  "A Night at the Opera" sees the choir join with the WIT Symphony Orchestra also under the direction of Niall. The evening will also include "The Angelus Chorus" by Waterford composer William Vincent Wallace.

For the evening the choir was joined by the well respected Waterford choirs; Voci and the Edmund Rice Choral & Music Society. It' s rewarding for the choirs to share their ' evening of song' with one another and harmonise en force. We would like to say a special "Thanks" to our guest soloists  Bridget Knowles(Mezzo Soprano), Roisin O`Grady(Soprano) & Eoin Power(Baritone) for some special memorable moments.

This was an emotional night for all of us in the choir, as it was NIall Crowley's (Our Musical Director) last time take the baton.Niall has been with us since our inceptrion and has nurtured the choir to its present position of one of the leading Male Voice Choirs in Ireland.

Well done to all who braved the elements. Many members were seen afterwards nursing hot whiskies to re-invigorate themselves after their ordeal. Mighty men.
