Musical Director and Accompanist

Musical Director: Cian O'Carroll

   

Cian has been conducting a wide range of music in his native Waterford for almost twenty years from choirs and barbershop groups to musical societies.  He was appointed Musical Director of the Lismore Choir in 1995 and MD of the Dungarvan Choral and Musical Society. He spent 5 years as conductor of the De La Salle College Musical Society and is Musical Director of the Sweeney Toddlers Barbershop Quintet and Ad Hoc Chorale. He was recently appointed Musical Director of the Waterford Male Voice Choir.

Over the years he has conducted a vast range of repertoire from chamber choral works to the large scale Requiems of Brahms, Fauré and Duruflé and musicals  such as Les Miserables and West Side Story. He has had many successes in Choral Festivals nationally in New Ross, Cork, Sligo and with Ad Hoc Chorale was runner up in the International Competition in the Mayo Choral Festival in 2012.

He was appointed Musical Director of the Waterford Male Voice Choir in August, 2013

 
     

Accompanist: Cecilia Kehoe

   

Cecilia Kehoe studied piano and organ at The Cork School of Music as a major part of her studies for The Cork School of Music Piano Teacher Diploma course and other Licentiates in teaching and performance. During this time she was Organist of the Holy Trinity Church and the Augustinian Friary in Fethard, County Tipperary. She was winner of the Roycroft Cup for senior piano, the Sonata competition and winner of the Overall Senior Piano Prizewinners Competition in 1993.

Also in 1993, in conjunction with her studies for a Bachelors degree in music at UCC, Cecilia was awarded an Organ Scholarship at St. Finbarr’s Cathedral Cork, under the tutelage of Mr. Colin Nicholls, the Organist and Choirmaster at St. Finbarr’s Cathedral. This work involved working with a choir of men and boys every week for four years at morning service and choral evensong, performing church music from mediaeval times to present day. She was  required to give an organ recital as Organ Scholar each year on behalf of UCC.  She also studied the carillon bells under Mr. Adrian Gebreurs, Cobh Cathedral Cork, during this period.

In 2002 Cecilia was awarded a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship of $25,000 to study at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, where she furthered her studies in the carillon bells and organ, giving carillon recitals in Ann Arbor and in Pennysylvania, which were broadcast on the internet. She achieved a Masters degree in Church Music in 2003. Cecilia was appointed Organist and Music Director for the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity Waterford and Assistant Organist for Christchurch Cathedral Waterford. She also teaches piano and organ, and acts as piano accompanist for many musicians, and teaches Music appreciation, Communications and Drama at the Wave Centre in Waterford.  

Cecilia was appointed to the position in August, 2013.
